For the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and Paint Horse enthusiasts around the globe, though our world is full of horses, it is clear that you will never see the same Paint twice.
Each horse is its own work of art, and the precious and unique traits of the breed are hallmarks of a horse recognized as being marked for greatness.
Electronic Vet is proud to support the APHA, its members and its horses through a partnership with the
APHA World Show
and the Eastern & Western National Championships shows in 2020.
Being different is worthy of celebration
The American Paint Horse Association is the world’s second-largest international equine breed association, registering more than a million horses in 59 nations and territories since it was founded. APHA promotes, preserves and provides meaningful experiences with Paint Horses.
The APHA has always had a passion for the Paint Horse breed’s working horse roots and lives by the theory that “being different is worthy of celebration”.
The APHA breed is characterized by its patterns and colors. Patterns include
Tobiano,
Overo
or
Tovero, each also distinguished by a range of possible coat colors (bay, brown, grey, dun, buckskin, palomino, etc.).
The registration of solid color paint bred coats is also permitted, with specific APHA programs available to horses born without “chrome”.
Genetic testing helps owners and breeders identify potential coat colors and patterns. Researchers continue to unearth new genes that impact expression of the white spotting patterns for which the Paint breed is known. Gene testing can assist in identifying the potential for performance characteristics, temperament, gait and speed, and can also provide critical health panels that may identify the risk of potential future disease.
A versatile breed, today Paint Horses are not only exceptional working horses but also successful track racers, barrel racers, show competitors, pleasure horses and lifetime companions.
How eVet and APHA connect
eVet was founded on the principle that the protection of the health of our horses is paramount. Communication between owners, trainers, veterinarians and care workers is critical in ensuring the health of the horses in our care is prioritized.
When a horse travels for competition, leisure or when it is sold, responsible horse ownership ensures that horse health documentation is easily accessible and accurate. Relying on the manual organization of horse health details can result in missed deadlines, over-vaccination and lost paperwork. These issues can easily be resolved through eVet’s digital and cloud-based system that is integrated with many veterinarians, horse shows, horse show online entry software providers and breed and sport associations across the US and Canada.
APHA members who sign up for eVet accounts not only benefit from eVet’s convenience, security and digital features, but they also receive special membership benefits.
Each eVet record enables users to:
- Send an eVet certificate to a new boarding facility.
- Send an eVet certificate to a horse show prior to arrival.
- Share an eVet certificate with a shipping company in advance of a pick-up.
- Transfer a horse’s eVet record to a new owner.
- Add photos to ensure that the data and medical records are complete and accurate.
- Include trainer and farm information.
